Original Japanese style 3 bed Pole House with additional 1 bed apartment
The Pole House is a truly distinctive property, designed and constructed to match an original Japanese style plan which comprises a series of vertical Douglas Fir poles bolted on to 900mm slabs of concrete to a depth of 6-7’ to sit on lead pads. On the lower ground floor (in Japan this would have housed the livestock!) there is a totally self contained apartment, ideal for either relatives or letting to friends.
The Pole House construction blends a variety of natural woods, Birch, Pine, American Redwood/Cedar and Douglas Fir giving a warm, substantial quality to the property with high vaulted ceilings giving the living area lots of light and its distinctive atmosphere. The advantage of this type of construction is believed to be the ease of maintenance, good insulation, natural warmth and the fire retardant timber adding to the overall economic running costs.
A truly unique and quite fascinating design makes this a very desirable property for those looking for an alternative lifestyle in this pretty village in the West of Cornwall. It is essential to view this property to fully appreciate its individuality.
Angarrack is very accessible from the main A30 and it comprises a small rural village, once a settlement for the local tin miners and their families. Its most noted feature being the high viaduct which rises loftily above the village, constructed in the 1880’s to aid the transportation of tin. There is an excellent local Inn and on the outskirts of the village and just off the A30 excellent local stores including Marks & Spencers, Boots and Next.
Hayle (the Cornish word for Estuary) offers three miles of golden sands and is a sought after coastal area well known to be a feeding ground for birds, with several rare species having been spotted on its mud flats. A haven for holiday makers offering a good range of shops and other facilities including a mainline rail link to Paddington.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pole Houses are constructed around a series of vertical poles, basically whole trees cut to length and machined to receive horizontal structural girders. The result is a three-dimensional frame or grid, which carries the roof. They call this the main frame. Next the timber frame outside walls and partition walls lend diagonal bracing to the main frame grid, forming a rigid skeleton which can be clothed in a n infinite variety of window and door openings, colours, textures of materials to suit individual clients tastes, site conditions, weather and local vernacular styles.
Ecologically, Pole Houses are sympathetic to the environment, the poles themselves have not been overworked by heavy machinery. The timbers and decking have naturally light insulation values and are supplied to them from sustainable, managed forests in North America, Scandinavia and British Isles. The insulation they use in the floors, walls and roof is made from recycled newsprint, consumes negligible energy during manufacture, has superior insulation properties and is corrosion, fire and vermin-proof.
SERVICES
