This delightful three bedroom detached cottage dating back to the 17th century is packed full of traditional character

Avon Cottage is a characterful three bedroom detached cottage situated in a convenient location on the outskirts of Padstow and only a couple of miles to Trevone beach. The property has a fascinating history having been the dwelling place of the famous inventor and scientist Sir Goldsworthy Gurney, who was born at Avon Cottage in 1793. There is a plaque on the side of the cottage in his memory.

Internally, the property has some wonderful noteworthy features which include a Cornish stone fireplace and an exposed stone wall on the landing. The ground floor comprises of a large kitchen with pine wall and base units, stainless steel sink, space for a dishwasher, electric oven with extractor fan over and quarry tiled flooring. The living room is a great size, with two window seats, slate effect laminate flooring, plenty of space for a large dining table at one end of the room and a beautiful stone feature fireplace with a driftwood mantel and slate hearth is located at the opposite end of the room. Also on the ground floor is a separate WC, understairs cupboard and a cosy sitting room with a Delabole slate open fireplace and double doors opening out on to a small patio area.

Up the stairs to the first floor landing, immediately to the left is the family bathroom comprising of a panelled bath with Neptune Solo shower over and tiled surround, pedestal wash hand basin, low level WC, heated towel rail and a small double glazed window. There are three generous sized double bedrooms, two are located at the front of the property and the master bedroom to the rear with lovely views over the countryside. All of the windows throughout the property are double glazed.

Outside there is a south facing private and enclosed sun trap patio area with a Cornish stone wall to one side and a graveled pathway leading to the side and rear access gates. One of the gates leads to a side patio area with a storage shed and a pathway that wraps round the side of the property. There is gated access from the road directly to the front door and ramp access to the rear of the property from the large driveway which has ample space for several vehicles. Services to the property include mains water, electricity and drainage with an LP gas central heating system.

Please note: The hotel next door is becoming a private residence as the owners are retiring.
